to the trail

If you are accommodated in a village, then go along the highway next to Irkutsk. After the bridge over the river. Holostnaya walk about 100 m to the right turn (dirt road). Here begins the trail, which goes up the slope parallel to the highway B. Goloustnoye - Irkutsk.

Trail description

The trail has no obvious lapels and is constantly gaining height. Getting lost is almost impossible. After the trail reaches the ridge, it goes along the cliff, a few meters from it. In the last section, you need to climb the rocks. From above, a stunning view of the Goloustnaya river valley, Lake Baikal and the entire village opens.

What you can see on the trail

Big Goloustnoe is a small village on the shore of Lake Baikal. The name comes from the name of the river, the mouth of which is "bare", i.e. not covered by forest. In the village there is the church of St. Nicholas the Wonderworker. In the vicinity of the village there is a relic poplar grove, a natural monument - a dry lake and a chapel of the Savior. Bolshoi Goloustnoye - the beginning of routes to Bolshie Koty and further to Listvyanka, as well as Peschanaya Bay and further to Buguldeyka. Along the trail you can see rosemary, dwarf lily and cactus-like rabbit cabbage (spiny mountain gill). Remember that many plants are rare and listed in the Red Book. Let's save these flowers so that other tourists can admire them!
The holy (red) mountain is a holy and revered place among local Buryats. Respect the traditions of the local population and take garbage with you!

Shops and cafes are located in the village of Bolshoy Goloustnoye. You can also find a place to spend the night at camp sites and with local residents.
Transport links with the village only once a day. Departure from Irkutsk at about 16:00, back to the city at 8:00 (should be checked with drivers - private owners or with local residents). The road is mostly unpaved.
